  1. Select a mix of colorful vegetables each day. Protective foods are essential for safeguarding the body against diseases.
  2. Eat breakfast every day. People who eat breakfast are less likely to overeat later in the day.
  3. Choose whole grains over refined grains. Choose whole wheat in place of refined flour. Look for the wheat label while purchasing bread, biscuits and other foods.
  4. Choose fresh fruit over fruit juice. Fruit juice has little or no fiber, the calories may be high, and many juices have added sugar.
  5. Use fats and oils sparingly. Sunflower oil, Rice bran oil, coconut oil, Safflower oil
  6. Limit foods and beverages that are high in sugar. Limit your intake of foods high in calories and low in nutrition, including foods like soft drinks, candy, junk food,refined-grain products
  7. Drink lots of water. Water is required in large amounts to regulate body processes such as digestion, excretion, maintenance of the body temperature and the electrolyte balance. Aim for at least 2–3 liters daily.
  8. Exercise regularly and be physically active to maintain ideal body weight. Exercise is a good way to de-stress and keep the body fit. Do some form of exercise at least 6 days a week.
  9. Eat a variety of foods every day Eat enough calories but not too many. Keep portions moderate.
  10. A healthy diet improves the overall sense of well being.
